Korpus
MICK SQUIRES
It all started way back in 2005 (hahaha).
I walked into Chris Reid's Tattoo Studio in Geelong looking to get tattooed. After two or three appointments I was hooked on wanting to become a tattooist. It took me many months of annoying Chris for him to give me a shot.
In late 2005 I did my first tattoo and floated around the studio helping out here and there. In Feb 2006 I was offered a full-time position and my journey as a tattooer began. I worked for Chris until July 2007 when he sold up and I decided it was time for a change.
I then approached Lisa at Kustome Kulture for a position, and started tattooing with the team at KK in August 2007. During this time I travelled across to New Zealand in Feb 2008 for the SINZ tattoo convention in Christchurch, and then went on to do a guest spot with Nadine Bryant in Hamilton NZ.
Shortly after arriving home from NZ, I had decided portrait tattoos were what I wanted to specialise in. I'd always played around with realism in my tattoo designs. After much research in human anatomy I laid my first black and grey portrait tattoo.
In Jan 2009 I travelled out to Port Lincoln SA to meet up with a good friend, Byron Dreshler, who helped me refine my skills, get a handle on Pneumatic Tattoo machines (Ink-jecta's) and be apart of the 2009 congregation held there. Shortly after, I did my first colour portrait and attended the Sydney Tattoo Expo where I met up with Steve and Brain and had ball.
After I arrived back in Geelong, Steve, Brain and myself had a chat about the possibility of me moving up to Melbourne and joining the crew at Korpus.
In April 2009 I became a part of the Korpus Team!
